Essiac teas are far from equal, Rene Caisse is on record as saying that this tea "must contain Sheeps sorrel root or it is no good . Unfortunately, there are no commercial growers in Europe who harvest whole plant Sheeps sorrel, only the aerial parts, that is the stem and leaves. Its just not economically viable to re sow the plant as the root is very slow to grow. It takes at least 2 years to develop any amount of root worth collecting. I discovered this when first making this tea for my then 3 year old son in 2005, I could not get Sheeps sorrel root anywhere, we searched all over the world. This is why I grow my own Sheeps sorrel here in sunny Devon. It must be dug up by hand with a mattock, pressure washed with filtered water, then powdered in a commercial Vitamix as the root is very tough indeed. My tea is brewed in 5 litre batches using only aquasana quad filtered, then steam distilled water that is made by us. My tea contains nothing more than organic Burdock root, organic whole plant Sheeps sorrel, including the roots, organic Slippery elm inner bark powder and organic Turkish rhubarb root. My tea contains no preservatives or additives of any kind. All the equipment I use is stainless steel, it is all steam sterilised together with the bottles and lids when my tea is bottled to ensure the tea remains fragrant and fresh for as long as possible. The bottles are filled while the tea is steaming hot and to the very top so that there is no air in the bottle whatsoever once sealed to ensure freshness. Full written preparation instructions are with every order. Bottled in sterilised food grade U.V. protective glass bottles with tamper evident screw caps and paper labels. All our packaging is compostable, recyclable or reusable.
