Pantelleria caper leaves preserved in extra virgin olive oil. Caper leaves look thick and shiny. Round and sometimes ovate, they are traditionally picked and processed to be preserved. Caper shrubs grow in arid climates, and provide farmers with different edible parts, such as caper buds, fruits, and leaves. Caper leaves are eaten as a delicious appetiser. The leaves of the caper plant are carefully selected by La Nicchia. In fact, only the best ones are used to be preserved in fine extra virgin olive oil, so that they can keep the right consistency, fleshiness and crunchiness. Excellent for enriching and garnishing salads, fish dishes, and red or white meat. In a glass jar (net weight: 100g / 3.52oz). Ingredients: extra virgin olive oil, 41% caper leaves (salt, wine vinegar). La Nicchia is a traditional small farm located on the Sicilian island of Pantelleria. Established in 1949, it specializes mainly in the cultivation of caper bushes. Experimentation on the islands iconic produce is key in La Nicchias processing facilities, where passion and wisdom come into play to find out new ways of reinterpreting those farm products that made this one-of-a-kind island world-famous. Pantellerias produce is processed as simply as possible, respecting its uniqueness. The artisanal production by La Nicchia encompasses dried, powdered, or preserved capers (in salt, pickled, or in oil), in addition to caper leaves and berries, oregano, savoury spreads, and delicacies prepared with the local Zibibbo grape.
